The medal race between the United States and China will probably come down to the very end.
As America’s top athletes compete, one local group of coaches, trainers and nutrition experts will be rooting for the competition.
“Our job is to support athletes, we love it,” said Brent Callaway, international director of performance for Phoenix-based Athletes’ Performance. “It doesn’t matter where they are from or what color their skin is. We love developing athletes and we will always pour our heart and soul into that.”
Athletes’ Performance is supporting Chinese individuals in 14 sports, including diving, gymnastics and weightlifting. Among those athletes are Xu Li, the No. 2 judo fighter in the world and divers He Chong and Hu Yadan.
Hundreds of these athletes have come to Phoenix for training and a host of local experts are in London supporting their athletes.
Athletes’ Performance has helped to support the German national soccer team’s preparations for the recent Euro Cup and the Argentina’s field hockey team.
