Arizona building two new solar power plants

Expect more solar panels to drape across Arizona’s deserts in the future.
Arizona received two of the available 17 solar power plant sites that earned final approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Arizona’s pair are in the western part of Maricopa and La Paz Counties.
Blessings have come from business and environmental leaders, who helped whittle down the initial list of proposed sites to two dozen.
The fast-tracked Western U.S. facilities are all zoned for flat areas. They are also located away from development and sensitive habitats.
Both sites could be developed within 20 years, but no projects are on file for either site.
