Crews gaining control of 8 fires in Kaibab

Firefighters are making significant progress toward containment of eight lightning-caused wildfires near the Grand Canyon.
No homes or other structures are in danger.
The largest of the Kaibab National Forest blazes, the Tank Fire, is about 50 percent contained. It has burned 2,546 acres. The Elbow Fire has burned about 222 acres while the Faver Fire is about 144 acres. Each of the remaining fires is 25 acres or less.
The fires began around noon Saturday during a lightning storm west of the Kaibab Plateau, which is nort of the Grand Canyon.
