Medical marijuana backer blasts state decision

Jul 23, 2012, 7:45 AM | Updated: 7:45 am

PHOENIX — The man in charge of Arizona Cannibis University said State Health Director Will Humble should be ashamed of himself for denying PTSD sufferers access to medical marijuana.

Humble made his decision late last week.

Al Sobol called the denial cruel and unusual punishment for people who have served the nation in the military and will now have to go outside of the law to get the marijuana that treats them.

“It’s unfortunate that these people seem to be left out in the cold,” Sobol said.

Sobol said the state’s decision to deny proposals to expand the state’s medical marijuana program for anxiety, depression and migraines just adds to the irony.

“The government is forcing us to take on medical insurance with ObamaCare. On the other hand, they’re limiting what we can do with our medical care but limiting what we can use and there’s nothing to justify that.”

Humble said he didn’t approve the petitions because of the lack of published data regarding the risks and benefits of using cannabis to treat or provide relief for the petitioned conditions.

We want to hear from you.
