In 2000, Linda Kacmarsky thought she had beaten breast cancer.
In October 2010, the cancer returned and she passed away just six weeks after being diagnosed.
In honor of her memory, an annual run/walk event she organized, the Ironwood Walk, was renamed Linda’s WISH. The event now serves as both a memorial and fundraiser for cancer research.
This year’s run/walk is scheduled for Sept. 25 at Persimmon Golf Course in Anthem, Arizona. Entry is $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. All funds go to HonorHealth, formerly the John C. Lincoln Breast Health and Research Center.
Linda’s WISH also accepts donations online.
