New police officers hit streets of Mesa

After weeks of training, 19 new police officers for the City of Mesa have hit the streets.

They are the first recruits in nearly four years. The training program was a victim of budget cuts in 2008.

Mesa’s police academy hopes to welcome another class of recruits for the 20-week basic training(and several weeks of additional field training) program in November.
