PHOENIX — Authorities have released the name of a 38-year-old man who
was killed when he was swept away by flood waters in Lake Havasu City.
Police Sgt. Joe Harrold says the death occurred Friday night as heavy rain and
flooding hit parts of the city.
He says Kenneth Mathis and two others were in a vehicle when it was caught
in a rush of water. It tumbled several times. The two freed themselves and
made it to safety, but Mathis disappeared.
His body was later found about 2 miles downstream.
Harrold says the city’s emergency dispatch center received more than 100
