Thanks to today’s technology, 80 percent of working people end up working seven more hours after leaving the office, according to a recent study by Good Technology.

Many Americans are finding it harder to stop working once they’ve come home, with many working even while laying in bed, according to the article.

By 8 a.m. work email has already been checked by 68 percent of those surveyed, and 40 percent are still working after 10 p.m., according to the survey. Work and personal life is slowly being fused into a single entity because of the cell phone.

“While most of our customers believe their employees do work more hours as a result of this accessibility, they also appreciate and welcome the enhanced work-life balance that comes when employees have more freedom and choice to get work done whenever and wherever they need to — whether that’s in the office, on the road or while sitting in the stands at a child’s baseball game,” said John Herrema, senior vice president of coporate strategy for mobile security software company Good Technology.
