Will social media prevent a millennial from getting a job?

SALT LAKE CITY — Lack of employment for those born
between 1976 and 2001 could be the fault of managers. Many
managers aren’t confident the work millennials provide can bring
results and increase the company, according to the Young Entrepreneur Council.
Managers may feel threatened by young adults’ addiction to social
media outlets and cell phone usage, but the Young Entrepreneur
Council found that this attribute could boost the company instead of
holding it back.
For 52 percent of young adults, highlighting the company on the
millennial’s Facebook can be seen by more than 300 friends. About 66
percent of young adults reported they would look up a store after
seeing that their friend already had, said the report.
Because of social media, “friends of fans represent a set of consumers
34 times larger than fans themselves,” according to the Young
Entrepreneur Council.
But for those still concerned about a new hire using social media, “One
in three millennials said he or she would prioritize social media
freedom, device flexibility and work mobility over salary in accepting a
job offer,” said the report.
