Labor Day signals the end of summer and the beginning of the college football season. For Pac-12 fans it will be a weekend with a splash.
Break out the Wireless Set-Top Box on the patio or by the pool. Here are five games you won’t want to miss:
Michigan at Utah – The media might be focused on Jim Harbaugh’s return to Michigan, but the Utes are looking forward to having the spotlight on them just as they did last season when they won in Ann Arbor.
Arizona State vs. Texas A&M (in Houston) – This early battle between the Pac-12 and the SEC will help set the tone for the country’s top two football conferences. The winner of this game could give its respective conference a leg up on aspirations for the National Championship.
Texas vs. Notre Dame – Two of the most storied programs in the history of the game face off in South Bend, Ind. Texas is entering the second season of the Charlie Strong era. Notre Dame is ranked high and looking to get the 2015 campaign off with a strong start.
Alabama vs. Wisconsin (in Dallas)
The Crimson Tide will meet the Badgers in Arlington, Texas for the season opener. Attending this game in person is a bit pricey with tickets up to $400 giving fans one more reason to enjoy this one from the comfort of their own couch.
Ohio State at Virginia Tech
The Buckeyes visit Virginia Tech looking for revenge after last season’s 35-21 upset loss to the Hokies. The loss snapped the nation’s longest regular-season winning streak at 25 games. Also, it ended a streak of 35 consecutive home opening wins, and 64 consecutive wins at Ohio Stadium over unranked, nonconference opponents. It’s payback time.
Whether you take the games with you wherever you go or watch and record the season openers, college football is here and we’re just getting started.
