SILVER CITY, N.M. — A former Arizona legislator who resigned earlier this
year amid domestic violence allegations has decided not to apply for job serving
a New Mexico town.
The Silver City Sun-News reported Daniel Patterson
rescinded his application to the Silver City Planning and Zoning Commission in
an email to the town’s mayor.
In the email, Patterson cited growing job and personal responsibilities as the
reasons.
Town Manager Alex Brown said officials did not know Patterson was the same
lawmaker who had been under investigation for ethics violations until he
received a call from The Arizona Republic last week.
Patterson made no mention of his legislative experience on his application,
saying it wasn’t relevant.
Officials said they asked Patterson to step down from applying.
Patterson declined to comment Wednesday on the situation.
