Poco Fire near Young, Arizona now 80 percent contained

The Poco Fire burning near Young, Ariz. is now about 80 percent contained.
“Smoke has dissipated from the town of Young, Payson, and the Mogollon Rim communities,” said Incident Commander Trainee Andy Mandell, Central West Zone Interagency Type 3 Team in a press release. “We are still seeing smoldering in the center of the deep canyons within the Tonto National Forest.”
Crews worked around the entire perimeter of the fire on Wednesday, gathering fallen trees and limbs.
Young Road, also known as Forest Road 512, was reopened Wednesday and crews reported a lot of activity on both the road and surrounding area.
The fire has burned 11,950 acres so far. Efforts to fight the fire are estimated to have cost about $9 million so far.
