AAA Arizona ready for Fourth of July weekend

Over 650,000 drivers will be hitting the road this weekend and next week for their Fourth of July celebrations.
Michelle Donati with AAA Arizona anticipates her agency will attend to over 6,000 road side assistance calls.
“We know that you would rather spend the Fourth with your family and friends instead of a Triple-A tow truck driver,” she said. “So get your vehicle checked out. Make sure that you’re prepared to take to the road.
“No one foresees they’re going to break down, so have a plan in place.”
Donati advises drivers to check the car’s tires. Triple-A responded to almost 1,000 tire-related calls last year during the holiday.
“A tire failure can be extremely dangerous,” she said. “While we want folks to check their batteries, we also really want them to take a good look at their tires. If you think about a tire in the heat, the heat tends to make a tire wear faster.”
Donati said checking car batteries routinely is smart, as the heat reduces the lifespan of a battery by up to 30 months.
