Valley Metro adjusting service hours for July 4

Jun 27, 2012, 5:00 AM | Updated: 10:04 am

Valley residents who rely on public transportation may need to plan other means of transportation on July 4.

Valley Metro will run on its Sunday schedule, meaning any express bus or RAPID commuter bus services will not be in effect.

Some holiday festivities will also affect bus routes on that day or for a few days before or after. Those are listed below:

ΠMain Street between Country Club and Mesa drives in Mesa will be closed from 9 p.m. on Thursday to 8 a.m. Sunday. for the Celebration of Freedom event. Route 40 and the Main Street LINK will be affected. On Friday and Saturday nights, Buzz circulator and Main Street Link will extend service until 11 p.m.

• The Tempe Town Lake festival will impact bus service. Tempe’s local and Orbit buses will run on the Sunday schedule until 5 p.m., when buses will begin running every 15 minutes to the Tempe Transportation Center until 10 p.m. Return service from that location will continue through midnight.

• Light rail will be on a 20-minute service timetable until 5 p.m., when service will be every 10 minutes. Both the eastbound and westbound final trains will depart at midnight, one hour later than usual.

We want to hear from you.
