PHOENIX – In addition to fire warnings, Tonto National Forest officials are now bracing for monsoon flooding and flash floods.
Several areas on the Tonto National Forest could be closed due to flood damage caused by monsoons forecasted over the next few weeks.
The Cave Creek and Mesa ranger areas are often affected the worst by summer flooding.
In the event of any roadway flooding, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation asks travelers to turn around and avoid the potentially hazardous conditions.
Visitors are advised to visit the forest website before making recreational plans.
