Carolla: Ridiculed bus monitor should have driven bus into oncoming truck

Jun 22, 2012, 5:09 PM | Updated: Jun 26, 2012, 2:09 pm

As the “what would you do” scenarios fly regarding a bus monitor who was ridiculed by children, comedian Adam Carolla had a novel, if not violent idea: end it all.

“I would have said, ‘Listen. I’m 68. I smoked all through my 20s, 30s and 40s. I may have another three, four years on the planet in a loveless relationship and I have a couple of kids that don’t speak to me. You guys, what are you, 12? You have your whole lives ahead of you, except for I’m steering this [expletive] into an oncoming tractor-trailer,'” said Carolla on News Talk 92.3 KTAR’s Mac & Gaydos Show.

Carolla said he was shocked by the incident, but it may have been a case of “senioritis,” as the kids would likely not see her again for the rest of the summer.

All things aside though, Carolla said the entire incident was an example of bullying.

“I think we’ve spent way too much time on this whole bullying campaign and we’ve decided — and we do this all the time — we’ve turned everyone into a bully…and no we can’t focus on the people that really are that way,” he said.

The harassed bus monitor, Karen Klein, has received an outpouring of public support after a YouTube video surfaced of her being verbally abused by children on a Rochester, NY bus. A fundraiser has raised over $500,000 for her.
