YOUNG, Ariz. – Officials battling a wildfire in eastern Arizona say
they’re prepared for high winds and low humidity.
Incident Commander Matt Reidy says firefighters have created containments lines
around the community of Young and burned out fuel ahead of the fire.
Crews are reinforcing those lines and patrolling for spot fires. Winds are
expected to gust up to 30 mph Friday afternoon.
The Poco Fire is nearly 12,000 acres and 25 percent contained.
The blaze had spread beneath two power lines earlier this week, but fire
officials say those lines no longer are threatened.
More than 740 people and several helicopters are fighting the fire.
