TUCSON, Ariz. — Officials are investigating the death of a patient at a
Tucson long-term care facility who was left in the heat.
The Arizona Daily Star reported the Arizona Department of
Health Services said Thursday a man died at a hospital after being left in the
sun.
The man, whose age and name were not available, was outside Sabino Canyon
Rehabilitation and Care Center on Monday. Officials said the high temperature
that day was 105 degrees.
Center officials said the man was not in the sun for a long period of time.
Administrator Christie Jones said workers are saddened by his death but they
stand behind the care they provided.
Police said criminal charges are unlikely to be filed.
Records show the facility has no recent sanctions from the state.
