PHOENIX — A national group wants families to camp out over the weekend.
It’s the National Wildlife Federation’s eighth annual Great American Backyard Campout.
“We’re encouraging families to get outside in the evening and enjoy a night with mother nature,” said spokeswoman Mary Burnett.
And it can in the backyard.
“They can pitch a tent if they’ve got one,” said Burnett. “If they don’t have one, they can still drag some sleeping bags out, throw some tarps down and enjoy an evening outside under the stars. Perhaps they can do a cookout outside, or sit around a campfire and tell stories.”
It’s a good way to get the kids out of the house, she said.
