TUCSON, Ariz. – The wildfire burning in the Rincon Mountains east of
Tucson is 60 percent contained after charring about 7,500 acres.
Authorities say the lightning-sparked Fox Fire began Saturday.
Crews conducted successful burnout operations late Wednesday and early Thursday
to deplete natural fuels.
The fire is burning dry grass and brush in steep and rocky terrain in the
Rincon Wilderness area.
Some 200 firefighters are battling the flames along with helicopters and aerial
tankers.
