WILLIAMS, Ariz. — The Kaibab National Forest is planning to thin trees and
do prescribed burns on more than 17,000 acres.
Work on the McCracken Project could begin in August, barring any appeals of the forest supervisor’s approval.
Forest officials said the project will reduce infection from dwarf mistletoe and
leave the forest less at risk for wildfires.
The work will take place on the Williams Ranger District south of Williams.
