GLENDALE, Ariz. — Police are investigating whether the spray-painting of
symbols and messages on a Glendale church was a hate crime.
Glendale police said an employee arrived at St. Raphael Catholic Church on
Thursday morning to find various areas of the property vandalized with phrases
such as “God is Evil,” “Smoke Meth” and “Christians are Liars.”
Crosses and pentagrams were also painted around the church.
Authorities have no suspects. They say police do not know of the church being a
target before this incident.
However, the Rev. Edward Kaminski told KTVK-TV someone threw
a cement bench through a stained glass window of the church earlier this year.
