An Arizona man’s vision to start a youth sports program is now sending him to England to carry the Summer Olympics torch.
“I actually get to carry the torch for 300 meters on its way to London, said Dale Kamarata.
Dale Kamarata is a Supply Chain Manager at Coca-Cola in Goodyear. He was nominated by fellow co-workers for his passion to give back to his community.
“I started Estrella Youth Sports just about six years ago,” said Kamarata. “I sent a few emails out and I figured ‘Oh, I’ll get my kids friends together and we’ll get maybe 20 kids together,’ and six years later we have about 1,200 kids in the organization.”
Kamarata said that, though he will actually carry the torch, he will be thinking of many others while he does so.
Kamarata will carry the torch on July 10 as it passes through Oxford, England. 21 other Coca-Cola employees from the United States will be part of the celebration.
