Crown King fire fully contained

CROWN KING, Ariz. — Fire crews have fully contained a wildfire that had
forced the evacuation of a historic mining town.
Officials said the Gladiator Fire near Crown King was 100 percent contained
Wednesday.
Firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the area for the next few
weeks.
The blaze first ignited May 13 in a house and has burned 16,240 acres.
Investigators said it was human caused but haven’t determined what sparked it.
The wildfire destroyed six structures, including some homes, and forced the
evacuation of other communities to the north.
Authorities estimate the damage from the fire to be $14 million.
