A police officer who was shot and one stabbing victim, both who were attacked Wednesday inside of a Louisiana mini mart, have died, officials said.
Officer Henry Nelson, 51, and Shameka Johnson, 40, died Wednesday after a brutal attack in a convenience store near Martin Luther King Drive and Interstate 49 in Sunset, Louisiana, about 15 miles north of Lafayette.
The condition of the two other stabbing victims are unknown, but they are still hospitalized.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said 35-year-old Harrison Lee Wiley Jr. stabbed two people at a convenience store near Martin Luther King Drive and Interstate 49 in Sunset, Louisiana, about 15 miles north of Lafayette. When police responded, an officer was shot.
Wiley then fled the scene, driving a few blocks before ramming his car through the front doors of another nearby convenience store. He then barricaded himself inside of a small room for a time before being arrested. He was unhurt.
Sheriff thinks illegal drugs is behind this, not work of a sane person, he said. Suspect will be brought to Lafayette hospital first

SWAT worked to get through the door, which Wiley blocked with an iron bar.
“We’re not going to stand here and beg him to come out all night, so we’re going to go in and get him,” Guidroz said.
Officers were seen in battle gear and heard yelling into a megaphone.
Megaphone: "Come out with your hands up to the sound of our voice so I can talk to you. Come out of that room."
