PHOENIX — A dash camera video helped turn a simple collision report into a road rage arrest on Wednesday in Arizona, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said it issued the two reports after two cars hit each other near the Loop 101 and 67th Avenue on Tuesday. Both drivers gave conflicting stories, but were free to go.
On Wednesday morning, a driver contacted DPS and said his dash cam video showed the crash wasn’t a simple accident, but the result of road rage.
The video allegedly shows Kyle J. Geisler, driving the blue car, tailgating another car. The driver slows down in an attempt to get Geisler to back off then speeds away. Geisler then revs his engine, peels out and catches up to the driver.
Geisler then pulls alongside the other car and opens the car door as if to get out. Instead he stays in the car and speeds up. He then cuts in front of the other driver, causing him or her to rear-end Geisler. Both cars quickly pull out of traffic just as the video ends.
Geisler, 36, was charged with assault, criminal damage, aggressive driving and threatening.
