YUMA, Ariz. – Federal authorities say they’ve seized more than 12 pounds
of methamphetamine in Yuma near the Arizona-California border.
U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector’s Blythe Station were patrolling
Interstate 10 on Tuesday when they say they observed suspicious behavior by the
driver of a pickup truck.
After agents stopped the vehicle, they say the driver and passenger consented
to a search.
Agents say they discovered 11 plastic containers filled with crystal
methamphetamine. The 121/2 pounds of meth had an estimated value of $194,000.
The drugs, vehicle and two suspects were turned over to the Drug Enforcement
Administration. Authorities say the suspects are U.S. citizens but their names,
ages and hometowns haven’t been released.
