A Mesa woman faces assault charges after pepper-spraying a department store security guard.
Police said Jovita Arzapalo, 26, was stopped by a security guard over the weekend at a Sears near Southern Avenue and Power Road. She was in possession of a swim suit that she hadn’t paid for.
When the guard tried to detain her, Arzapalo sprayed him and then bit him on the arm after he tackled her.
According to police, this is Arzapalo’s fourth arrest for shoplifting in the past two years.
