TUCSON, Ariz. — Gabrielle Giffords will appear at a concert to support the
Democrat hoping to be her successor.
Ron Barber’s campaign announced Giffords plans to attend a “Get Out the Vote”
concert in Tucson ahead of the June 12 special congressional election.
The show is scheduled for Saturday at the Rialto Theatre. Artists set to perform
include Salvador Duran and the Kevin Pakulis Band.
Mark Kelly, Giffords’ husband, said his wife is eager to get home to Tucson and
show her support for Barber.
Barber, a former district director for Giffords, faces Republican Jesse Kelly
and Green Party candidate Charlie Manolakis to represent Arizona’s 8th
Congressional District.
Giffords resigned in January, saying she needed to concentrate on her recovery
from a January 2011 shooting that left her critically wounded.
