PHOENIX – A former bank branch manager in Phoenix has been arrested for
allegedly trying to conceal more than $1.7 million in missing funds.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 46-year-old Linda Miller has pleaded not guilty
to four counts of computer tampering.
Miller is out of jail after posting a $1,500 cash bond. Her initial pretrial
conference is scheduled July 16.
The alleged scheme was uncovered by a joint investigation involving the FBI and
Mesa police. Authorities say the missing funds haven’t been located yet.
Miller was an assistant branch manager and later branch manager of a Wells
Fargo bank.
Prosecutors say Miller allowed the cash balance in the bank’s vault to grow to
unusually high levels, then allegedly made fraudulent computer entries and
altered documents to hide a series of large withdrawals.
