FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. — Authorities said two women trying to move their
disabled car crashed into the second story of a Fountain Hills house.
The Arizona Republic reported Maricopa County Sheriff’s
deputies said the Volkswagen Jetta struck the vacant home Wednesday after the
driver lost control.
According to Sgt. Brandon Jones, one woman was steering the vehicle while the other
pushed it from the intersection of Palisades Boulevard and Sage Drive.
Jones said the car, when going downhill, sped up to at least 70 mph.
He said the Jetta hit a curb and jumped more than 12 feet in the air, hitting
the home. The car then fell and landed by the front door.
The driver suffered minor injuries, said Jones. The house, however, has
extensive damage and the car was totaled.
