Grand Canyon to waive entry fees for 1 day

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. — The Grand Canyon and other national
parks are waiving entry fees on June 9 to promote outdoor activity.
Visitors who stay beyond National Get Outdoors Day will have to pay the regular
entrance fee for the rest of their stay. The cost is $25 per private vehicle, or
$12 to walk or bike into the park.
The waiver does not apply to fees for camping, reservations, tours or concessions.
Grand Canyon Superintendent Dave Uberuaga is urging visitors to take advantage
of programs guided by rangers, nature walks or bicycle tours on the free-fee
day.
Entry fees also will be waived for National Public Lands Day on Sept. 29 and
over the Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 10-12.
