Metro Phoenix sets out to lure more California tech companies

PHOENIX — An increasing number of companies based in Silicon Valley are looking to expand to the Valley of the Sun.

“Greater Phoenix is really well situated to capture a lot of these companies and I anticipate that we will see a lot of these project expansions in the near future,” Chris Camacho, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council said.

According to Camacho, hundreds of California corporations are looking at Arizona as potential secondary locations.

He attributed that to the state’s business friendly environment and its universities.

“The regulatory environment is very attractive, there is a very low tax burden for these companies and at the same time they’re able to connect with world-class production of talent,” he said.

Camacho will be meeting with eight Bay Area companies in August, hoping to convince them that Arizona is the right fit for expansion.
