An Arizona highway patrol spokesman said a van carrying a man and a woman crashed into the truck, which was parked on the shoulder of I-17 after breaking down.
The van ended up wedged beneath the truck, killing two occupants and injuring a third. The truck driver wasn’t injured.
The crash also forced closure of I-17 at Loop 303, creating miles of backup.
