The Glendale City Council voted unanimously to approve a new lease agreement with the Arizona Coyotes that will keep the team in Glendale for at least two more seasons.

While the deal secures the team’s future short-term, it still raises questions about where they will play when the deal expires on June 30, 2017.

Coyotes Co-Owner Anthony LeBlanc talked with KTAR News’ Mac & Gaydos on Friday afternoon.

“If a year from now we don’t have a strong direction of security and stability then I won’t advise you to invest,” LeBlanc said. “I couldn’t do that to you in good faith and that should tell you something.

“My intention over the next year maximum is figure something out that makes sense long term. The City Of Glendale needs that and they may not understand that, but it isn’t a disparaging remark. We had a really good session with the city today and had wonderful conversation with the Mayor and City Council, so I am optimistic. If we are on the phone a year from now and we don’t have something in Glendale or encouraging elsewhere in the valley then I couldn’t sit here and tell you to invest.”

If the team can’t come to a new agreement with Glendale, they could look at returning to downtown Phoenix.

We want to hear from you.
