CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — The latest in the sentencing phase of the Colorado theater shooting trial (all times local):

10:05 a.m.

An alternate juror in the Colorado theater shooting trial showed up in court wearing a Metallica T-shirt with the image of a man being electrocuted.

Jurors were hearing arguments on whether Holmes should be sentenced to death or life in prison when he wore the shirt Thursday. As an alternate, he didn’t help convict Holmes and wouldn’t have a say in the sentence unless another juror can’t continue.

The juror told Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. that he wasn’t trying to send a message. He said he had grabbed the shirt without thinking because he was running late.

Samour questioned him about the shirt Friday after defense attorneys mentioned media coverage of it.

Meanwhile, the judge made no mention of a shooting in a Louisiana movie theater Thursday that left three dead, including the gunman.

9:25 a.m.

The sentencing hearing for Colorado theater shooter James Holmes has been canceled for the day because a juror is ill.

Judge Carlos Samour Jr. called off court Friday after the weary-sounding juror told him she had a sinus infection and felt miserable.

Attorneys for both sides didn’t want to dismiss her at this late stage, so Samour asked her if she thought she would feel better by Monday. She said she probably would, so Samour told jurors to return then.

Jurors are hearing arguments on whether Holmes should be sentenced to death or life in prison. The same jurors convicted him last week of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the July 2012 attack.
