In this photo by Lee Jin-man, a North Korean soldier looks to the south as a South Korean soldier stands guard at the truce village of Panmunjom across the Demilitarized Zone that has divided the two Koreas since 1953. Both sides of the DMZ are heavily guarded, making it the world’s most fortified border. Three corrugated sheds in the village were built to be temporary conference halls but are still the scene of meetings between the sides. The Koreas are still technically at war since the 1950-53 conflict ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.
