GLENDALE, Ariz.– A 54-year-old Glendale woman is accused of abusing her 7-year-old grandson who told police she tried to drown him and also left him tied to bed frame for extended periods.
Leona Donna Mahtushquan was arrested Saturday on suspicion of three counts of child abuse.
Police said in a court document that Mahtushquan has guardianship of her grandson.
According to the document, the boy told police she twice tied his wrists and ankles and then held him under water in the bathtub.
Police said the boy also described being tied to a bed frame, resulting in him having to urinate on himself.
Mahtushquan was released from jail Sunday.
There’s no phone listed under her name in the Phoenix area, and she didn’t have an attorney during an initial court appearance.
