PHOENIX — A 650-acre fire burning northeast of the Phoenix area is expected to be 50 percent contained by Friday night, the U.S. Forest Service said.
As of Friday morning, the fire was 10 percent contained.
The Camp Fire was first reported about noon on Thursday, about five miles northeast of the town of Cave Creek. It is burning in the footprint of the 2005 Cave Creek Complex Fire.
Two engines, one helicopter, one air attack ship and two hotshot crews are battling the blaze, which is showing low to moderate growth potential.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
