PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Authorities say a dive team has found nothing unusual after inspecting a jetty on a Rhode Island beach where a mysterious blast sent a woman flying over the weekend.
State Police Lt. Col. Todd Catlow says the police dive team inspected the jetty on Narragansett’s Salty Brine beach Wednesday. He says police are awaiting results of an inspection by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which owns the jetty.
The beach was temporarily evacuated Saturday after a Connecticut woman reported she was thrown into the nearby jetty after a loud boom.
Police say there was no physical evidence of an explosion. Gov. Gina Raimondo says authorities have ruled out any malicious activity.
A power line owned by the U.S. Coast Guard that ran under the jetty has been inactive for years.
