PHOENIX — So close. Kelly Minkin of Arizona just missed grabbing a seat at the final table of the World Series of Poker.
The Phoenix lawyer was eliminated from Monday’s field of 69 for the main event in Las Vegas. That number has been whittled down to 27.
Minkin, a graduate of the University of Arizona, was the last woman in the competition.
She told Cardplayer.com “…at the end of the day, I don’t want to settle for being the last woman standing. I want to be the last person standing. It’s exciting to have gotten this far, but I hope this is just the beginning.”
The tournament winner will earn $7.6 million and a gold bracelet.
