In this photo by Dar Yasin, Kashmiri Muslims pray early in the morning at the Hazratbal shrine during special prayers to observe the Martyr Day of Hazrat Ali, cousin of the Prophet Muhammad, in Srinagar, the main city in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Muslims are observing the holy month of Ramadan, when devout refrain from eating, drinking and smoking from dawn to dusk. Ramadan ends with the three-day holiday of Eid al-Fitr, with family outings and feasts part of the celebration.
