Traffic to be restricted around University of Phoenix Stadium Sunday

GLENDALE — No, it’s not NFL season yet, but expect heavy traffic and closures near University of Phoenix Stadium this Sunday.
A double-header soccer match for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer Tournament is the reason for the restrictions.
Starting at 12:30 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m., the Loop 101 northbound on-ramps for Camelback and Bethany Home Roads will be closed.
At the conclusion of the first match, estimated to be around 5:30 p.m., the Loop 101 Glendale Avenue off-ramp and the Maryland Avenue HOV offramp will be closed in both directions, along with both southbound Bethany Home Road off-ramps until 8:30 p.m.
On surface streets, eastbound Glendale Avenue will be closed between 99th and 95th avenues from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
