SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A wall going up around the main church in Warren Jeffs’ polygamous community on the Utah-Arizona border will be 9-feet tall.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1IFFI6w) that building permits obtained from Colorado City, Arizona show the cinder block wall that started going up last week will be 8-inches thick.
A community member named J. Daniel Jessop was approved for the permit within a day of applying.
About 100 men and boys were spotted last week working on a wall that will surround a church that spans an entire block.
Jeffs is serving a life sentence in Texas after being convicted of sexually assaulting underage girls he considered brides. But he is thought to still be leading the sect from prison while one of his brothers carries out his edicts in the community.
