PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation has widened another section of US 93, bringing the agency one step closer to constructing a four-lane highway from Arizona to Las Vegas.
The project widened a three-mile-long segment of US 93 north of Wikieup by forming two new southbound lanes and reconstructing the two northbound lanes.
The $20 million project is transforming a 200-mile stretch from Wickenburg to the Hoover Dam bypass bridge from a two-lane rural roadway to a modern highway.
ADOT is attempting to improve traffic flow for Phoenix motorists heading to Las Vegas and make the highway a vital corridor for trade and commerce.
Currently, more than 75 percent of the highway to the Nevada state line has been upgraded.
