PHOENIX — A woman and her two children were rescued from a fire by jumping
from a balcony onto the roof of a police SUV.
Police said the woman and her two children — ages 2 and 6 — were trapped on the
second-floor balcony 20 feet above the ground as smoke and flames filled up the
house.
Officers backed up their SUV near the balcony and stood on top of it to save
the 26-year-old mother and her two children.
“Mom had to drop those kids to the officers, who were able to catch them,” officer James Holmes said.
Police were called to the home after a burglary was reported at the house. They
found a broken window and the living room of the house in flames.
Arson investigators and police are looking in to the cause of the fire.
