No charges to be filed in Flagstaff inmate’s death

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Prosecutors say detention officers will not be charged in the death of a man in a Flagstaff jail.
The Arizona Daily Sun reported Sunday that Deputy Yavapai County Attorney Jarrod Long says there is no evidence of wrongdoing by officers.
Police say 49-year-old Michael Daryle Rose called 911 for medical care in October 2014 but wouldn’t get into the ambulance.
Responding officers say he became agitated and punched one of them.
Police used a stun gun on Rose’s legs and took him to Coconino Detention Facility.
After being put in a holding cell, authorities say Rose stopped breathing for some reason and couldn’t be resuscitated.
The Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office says Rose died from a combination of meth intoxication, heart disease and restraint or possible asphyxia.
