LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two more people have died from injuries suffered in a May 17 plane crash near Laughlin on the Nevada-Arizona line, bringing the death toll to three.

The Clark County coroner’s office said Saturday that 58-year-old Diana Soto of Goodyear, Arizona, and 64-year-old Evelyn Walker of Avondale, Arizona, died of burns Wednesday at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Walker’s 72-year-old husband, James Walker, died at the scene, while a fourth person aboard the twin-engine plane, identified as Gregory Torres, remained in the hospital in fair condition.

The four-seat Rockwell Commander 114 crashed and burned on the Needles Highway shortly after takeoff from Laughlin-Bullhead International Airport and was headed for Phoenix.

Witnesses described the aircraft flying unusually low and reported hearing sounds suggesting engine trouble before the crash

The crash occurred near Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area, about 100 miles south of Las Vegas.

It sparked a brush fire that burned into the next day.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by federal authorities.
