WASHINGTON (AP) — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders says maybe he shouldn’t say it, but …
He likes Hillary Rodham Clinton and he respects her.
And he says he hopes the media and others will allow the Democratic candidates for president to have “a civil debate on civil issues.”
Still, Sanders wonders whether the only way to get the attention of the press is “by ripping somebody else.”
He hopes that’s not the case and says he’s never run a negative political ad in his long political career because he doesn’t believe in “ugly 30-second ads.”
Sanders spoke on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
