NEW YORK (AP) — New series given the go-ahead for next season on CBS:

CODE BLACK — A hospital ER drama in which a staggering number of patients routinely tests the limited resources available, creating a condition known as “code black.” Marcia Gay Harden heads a cast that includes Bonnie Somerville and Benjamin Hollingsworth as first-year residents. On the fall schedule for Wednesdays.

LIMITLESS — Based on the 2011 feature film, the drama finds Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) pressed into working with the FBI after a mysterious drug gives him the enhanced brain power needed to solve complex cases. Bradley Cooper, who starred in the film, is an executive producer and will have a recurring role as a U.S. senator and presidential hopeful. On the fall schedule for Tuesdays.

SUPERGIRL — An action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), cousin to Superman. After 12 years of keeping her powers to herself, she decides to use her superhuman abilities for her adopted planet. The cast includes Calista Flockhart as her tough media mogul boss, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen and Dave Harewood as the head of a secret agency. Beginning on Monday nights in November.

ANGEL FROM HELL — Jane Lynch stars as Amy, a brassy woman with bad habits, who tells tightly wound dermatologist Allison (Maggie Lawson) that she’s taking over her life as her guardian angel. Allison agrees to let this unlikely friend into her life. The cast includes Kevin Pollak as Allison’s dad and business partner and Kyle Bornheimer. On the fall schedule for Thursdays.

LIFE IN PIECES — A comedy about a family’s high, low and loving moments, as told by its members that include mom, dad, their grown siblings and their significant others. The cast includes Thomas Sadoski, Colin Hanks, Betsy Brandt, Dianne Wiest and James Brolin. Starting on Mondays in September, then moving to Thursdays in November.

“CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS” — A spinoff of “Criminal Minds” starring Gary Sinise as the head of an international division of the FBI that comes to the rescue of Americans in danger abroad. For midseason.

“RUSH HOUR” — Inspired by the feature film franchise, it stars Jon Foo and Justin Hires as mismatched crimebusters. For midseason.
